History of Potek

Potek is an electronics manufacturer based out of California, though they also have offices and warehouses in New York. Founded in 2008, Potek focuses on power inverters and jump starters, and offers a variety of wattages and features which make their products fairly popular. They offer solid customer service and fast delivery, and given the prices on their inverters, I like the quality level a lot.

Potek’s flagship product is its modified sine wave power inverter. Potek offers this modified sine wave inverter from 15000 to 5000 watts. They also have a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter on offer, but to be honest it doesn’t perform as well as we'd like. If you’re going to go with a Potek product, we recommend either the 2000, 3000 or 5000 watt modified sine wave inverter because of the overall quality for price.

Potek 2000 Watt Power Inverter Review

The Potek 2000 Watt modified sine wave power inverter offers a great balance of performance and affordability. With its 2000 watts, you can feel confident in powering a variety of appliances and electronics. Additionally, charging was fairly easy for my computer and devices because of the three AC outlets that Potek designed on the units (there’s also a USB charging port if you have a particular need for that.) Remember though, this is a modified sine wave inverter so it won't be suitable for all kinds of appliances.

I was pretty impressed with the overall performance of the Potek 2000 watt inverter. Whether trying it from a motorhome or a solar panel or even from a car, it did its job well and came through when needed. Is it going to blow your mind? Probably not, but it will get the job done and that is what counts.

Safety and Durability

Whenever I’m using a power inverter I am aware of the potential dangers or hazards that come with it. Overuse / overheating can cause significant issues, especially if you’re relying on your inverter during an emergency. To this end, Potek included both a cooling fan and a 30-amp fuse built into the unit to provide safety and peace of mind. Add on the durable design and steel framing and the Potek power inverter becomes a very solid piece of equipment.

Is the Bluetooth App helpful?

One of the interesting features I found with this Potek power inverter is the ability to use a Bluetooth-connected phone application to manage the inverter. Once you’ve downloaded the app and connected it with the inverter, you’ll be to see a variety of metrics live, including the overall voltage (both in and out,) total power, and power source level. We had a little trouble getting set-up at times, but once it was working it usually reported correctly. It's not a huge value-add and its range is fairly limited, but its still helpful if you want to keep an eye on it from your mobile phone.

What’s Different in the Potek 3000 Watt and 5000 Watt Power Inverter?

The Potek 3000W Power Inverter and Potek 5000W Power Inverter are both fairly similar to the 2000W model, with a few exceptions. One, they obviously offer more wattage and power and are better suited for those with higher power needs, like big appliances. Secondly, they offer more charging and outlet options, with 1 extra AC outlet and 1 extra USB charging outlet compared to the 2000 Watt model. They are also obviously a bit more expensive. Both the 3000 and 5000 watt Potek power inverters perform well and can be counted on, so if you need more wattage I'd recommend opting for one of them.

Final Verdict on Potek Power Inverters

When you compare the 3 main units, the Potek 2000 / 3000 / 5000 watt models all are fairly powerful, consistent in quality, and decently affordable. I can see why they have become popular, and with the added features of the Bluetooth app I see some unique appeal. If you’re looking for a very solid modified sine wave inverter to power your appliances or to draw from your solar panels at home, I’d have to say our Potek power inverter reviews clearly demonstrate they’re a great choice.
